i found a guy on a different forum that is offering me his r350 128mb 9800 pro w/vga silencer installed that can do 418/371 for $160 shipped.
Then there's the ati 256 mb 9800pro which is prolly a r360 core and can be flashed to a full 9800xt at microcenter for $230.
and finally i have the choice to wait a few more weeks and get a 6600gt..
what what you guys choose?

I would wait, the 6600gt will be a little faster but if you look at the ati section you'll see abit is coming out with a x700xt with that uguru that will let you oc and adjust the voltage.

but the x700 is a pci-e and the 9800 pro's are agp,,

so i would advise to go with the 6800nu(non ultra's)

or just save up and get a 6800gt,,,

and dont just take the (you wont find any diff between the 9800 pro's and the 6800's or even the gt's) there will be and it is worth the investment all the way.....down the road..

Hey wait this is the wrong thread, sorry.

although it may be worth it down the road, i dont want to spend so much money since ill be building a 64 bit amd system within the next year or so, at which point these card (x800pro & 6800gt) should be down in price and there will prolly be something even better out!

do you guys think the 6600gt will be better w/ aa then the 6600gt?

256/512 cards arnt needed!(at least not yet) its just the 256bit that we want(possibly 512bit? damn thatd be crazy). well 512 might be needed for those who CAD alot and such but no one needs the extra memory on board the vid card atm.

thats the big thing im thinking about..
9800 series is 256bit and the 6600 series is 128bit

But it still outperforms the 9800pro or the fx5950U.

the 6600gt scores higher on most if not all scores on from the reviews I've seen so far. Though, I don't know what that really means for the future in terms of whether or not future games will need/require 256 bit memory interfaces...

correct 6600GT still is better than 9800PRO with 256bits. If the 6600 were 256, itd be hella fastttt.
