***Disregard...The drive cannot be mounted upside down because the mounting holes won't match up.


Well, I just got my new Maxtor Diamondmax 10 300gb drive. My only issue with it thus far is that the placement of the power and data connections will route these cables right over the top of my CPU heatsink and fan. Would it be bad to mount the drive upside down? I wouldn't think it would make a difference, but wanted to get some advice on this idea none the less. TIA.

Oh, and btw, I did a search on this issue and couldn't pull anything up. For some reason "mount", "install", nor "upside down" couldn't pull anything up under the storage forum.

you don't have to worry. Drives today can be mounted in any direction.
