Getting older games to work with XP

I have a few older games I woiuld love to play again, but am having major problems with them running in XP.

Vampire masqurade (SP?)
and Tie Fighter

I have not been able to use either game since I upgraded to XP. Tie fighter does not work because of the processer speed, at least that is my take on it.

If anyone has any ideas let me know.

And I did try the compatibility settings and it does not help at all.

Try running in Windows 98/ME compatibility mode

That helps alittle for Vampire Masquerade, but it always crashes right after the opening movie clip.

Now that I think of it Tie Fighter did not even work on my P3. Probably need to get some sort of program to slow the processor down for that one.

If you have access to Win98, you could do a dual boot OS for when you wanna play those games.

...that's what I do, uses up HDD space though, and 98 drives me nuts, soon as you boot into it you're waiting for the all too familiar BSOD...

...I tried this program out a long time ago, worked OK, but wasn't the greatest, but it's been updated since then, worth a shot, I used it to play Wing Commander...

Ive always had a problem with the original AvP from 1999 on XP Pro.
