Just appeared setfsb for x (and T series) thinkpads

    Hi,

Guys, head on to SETFSB if you want to overclock your thinkpad x31. Just tested with my T40 and it works also... so I suspect this is good for most modern (T, X and probably R) thinkpads based on Centrino platform. However, take care with heat AND do not o/c too much or the disk may not take the PCI increase!.

Hi, it will only work if the PLL chip in your lappy matches with the version of setfsb that you download, and the PLL chip in thinkpads is quite unique... I haven't seen it used in other brands... that is the bad news. The good news, as you may have already seen is that there are several versions of setfsb in that page. If you can find out which PLL chip your inspiron is using, then chances are there is a setfsb, clockgen or cpufsb version that supports it.

Regarding the help file, it's written in some nordic language, with different codepage. However, it's clear enough to find out the command line options, i.e -sxxx to set the fsb to xxxx mhz, -wxxx to wait xxxx seconds,.... and so on.
