Has anyone ever tried to combine a individual dvd drive and a cd-rewriter to make a dvd burner?
Or is there some way to turn a normal dvd drive into a dvd burner.
obviously its not as easy as putting a fan on the side of your case (if its even possible) but if it is, it would be sweet!!
Just had to ask.

I would imagine (im no electrics expert) that the lasers would be different. If you want to burn DVDs, I think that all you can do is buy a DVDRW

yeah it wouldn't work. The main thing you would have to do is change the laser. The laser on a DVD drive is about 1/3 the size of a regular laser on a CD Room drive.

That's how they get sooo much information on one DVD CD Rom, it's packed tighter and closer together.

Not only that but you would also have to chage out the drive mech's that control the laser and change out the firmware.

OH and last but not least Alin the laser after you get it installed.

Sorry dude but it wouldn't be easy at all. Just wait a bit for the prices to drop and get one then.
