    Avatar's

How in the hell can any of you people find a small enough avatar???

Are there any programs that reduce colours or something?? Ive saw people with nice avatars with quite a few colours in, but somehow they are like 5kb, and the smallest i have got a avatar i wanted was like 20kb at a nice size and quality I have changed the image size using Photoshop and the cropping tool is useful, but are they any other things photoshop is hiding from me?

When saving choose "Save for web" or something like that, it will give you options to reduce quility.
    Try it and report back.

Also solid colored images can become very small in low color GIF files. For example, if you only had a few dominant colors with little or no fading - stuff like logos, patterns, mimimalist designs, etc - you can save as a 10 color GIF and it'll be like 1.5Kb. Kinda hard to explain, but over time you develop an 'eye' for it and you just know whether JPG or GIF will get smaller.

For example, the pic below is 15x bigger than an avatar and weighs only 25Kb as a 4 color GIF.
