Recovering lost files

I have a customers computer here and they deleted a file with ALL of there family photos in it...and it was to large to go into the recycling bin so it just up and deleted them...well the NEED them back and I am at a loss as system restore wont work...no freeware will install that I know will work...even if they spend the 40 buxs on a program there is no guaranty that it will work as this comp is SO flaky...so ANY help will be great...as the NEED these files…so any free-ware or ANY tricks will be great…BTW this comp has a VERY hard time loading anything as it is pretty much loaded with viruses after I get the files I am going to do a clean install of windows with there permission at least that is what I will recommend to them…

Freeware, including recovery, and runs within a Windows environment. Support for NTFS is included.

Save any data to another disk to avoid overwriting data that hasn't been saved yet. Write nothing to the disk under recovery. In fact, it's safer to hook it to another system for recovery.
