    Should i?

There is this little computer store near me. I believe one guy works in there, he repairs, diagnostics..that stuff. He sells what seems to be old or overstock stuff. Now, i am only 15. I can't work until i am 16. I know a couple of people have said that he has screwed some stuff up. I need some cash. Should i approach him, a guy who i have only talked to to ask for AS bags, and ask him for a minimum job under the table?

Also, if anyone else here has had a pc/repairish job, can you ask me some stuff you were asked and tested one when getting the job?

I would just feel very akward asking for a under the table job...what do you guys think?

Just see if he has any work first, if not, you don't have to go through the trouble of asking him for an under the table job.

While the sig may be a bit large, I like it.

If he questions your knowledge about computers just tell him "oc forums b*tch!"

Seriously though, don't feel so bad about it, you are doing it for the learning experience right? Like sandman said too, don't even mention your age until asked...

If he turns you down, go out and get your A+ Cert while you have some time. Looks good on a resume, despite it being almost completely worthless.

Go for it! Worst that can happen is that he will say No. Good training for the future. You will probably hear no, or Hell No!, on a number of occasions in your life.

If it's under the table don't expect minimum wage.

There is no harm in asking (assuming he's not some kind of psycho), but there might be detriment in not asking.

Ask away! My first job was working for a shop just like that; one man deal, I was 14, worked under the table to pay for my first PC. Nowadays I'm the IT manager at a software company. Never bothered with college. It's fun working with computers for a living!

That is the federal minimum wage. In your state, you also get a state minimum wage that brings it up to $8.xx. I will look up the exact amount tommorow. But yah, you are not exactly in a great position to demand a wage right about now.

    Go for it!

There's a small comp repair shop near me; like yours he sells mostly older stuff. I'm considering asking about work there in the fall (of course if my class schedule permits it).
