    Two BFG 6600gt's or One VisionTek X850XT???

    I'm curious obout trying SLI, but will 2 BFG 6600"s out perform one Visiontek X850XT? The 850 is an awesome card, but will 2 6600's put it to shame?

    the first thought that came to my mind is that the x850xt will work with all games, while the sli setup will only work with games that have been profiled.

    From the benchies, you can find that 2x6600 ~ 6800..and since the X850 >>> 6800, i'd go for that one...Also easier to sell off later and upgrade.

    two 6600GTs is a total waste. It preforms about as well, usually a little worse, than a single 6800gt, and costs as much or more than a 6800gt. Plus, if you get the 6800gt, you are still leaving one PCI-E slot open for possible SLI in the future. And the x850xt preforms a little better than the 6800gt, except in openGL games where the 6800gt does better. But the x850xt is a MUCH better choice than the 6600GTs. Between the 6800gt and x850xt, its a closer call, but if you dont plan on ever adding a second 6800gt to SLI in the future, then the x850xt is a better choice. If you do plan on adding a second 6800gt (keep in mind thats $700-800 you would be spending on the two cards) then it would destroy a x850xt, but its also quite a bit more money.

    So a 6800gt in SLI not 6800Ultra?? I went ahead and picked up the 850 and it seems to do better than 6800 ultra that I had that was AGP, especially on Far Cry. I think I can get 2 6800gt's for close to what the 850 cost..hhmmmm

    I like the way the 850 exhausts the heat out of the back of the case also.

    Wow..over here:

    2x6800GT = 2x340 = 680

    X850XT = 425

    But the 6800 in SLI will beat is easily..so whats the comparison? :/
