I used to colormatch automotive paint in a QC lab. The acetone I used was of the highest quality, I grabbed 2 gallons before getting laid off. Acetone like that remove all waxes/oils left from polishing. A final wipe with IPA of the same quality does the trick.
 
ya after it was mentioned, i remember using high quality acetone in chem lab freshman year - that stuff is incredible- i want to do a side-by-side w/ ispa though =O

say IPA and i think indian pale ale =P
