here is my cpu-z verification shot:

There is another thread here that I posted my SuperPi results in....but I will post again:

EDIT: forgot to mention this is on stock HSF.

2695mhz [email protected](bios)vcore fluctuates between 1.49 and 1.568 in cpuid
3700+ san diego core CABGE 0513(might have been 0514, didnt write it down)
Koolance case(1/4 id for the win! :D) with two additional sunon ~50cfm fans for exaust
fortron alx500 psu
2x1gb pc3200 @ 192mhz 2.5-3-3-7
gigabyte K8NS-Ultra939
i stopped prime(blend) at 11 hours

got a dfi ultra d and an evga pci e 6800gt waiting for an install, ill let yall know if i get a more stable vcore and better overclock

You can't clock your ram higher with 2x1gb? I know 2gigs is a lot, but I thought that the new cores can handle a little more... have you tried anything around 200-215 on 1:1 just to see if it works?

I will go to pickup my A64 3200+ Venice today. It should do a lot better than my CBBID. If I am lucky enough, it would go all the way to 2.9Ghz.

what do you plan on cooling it with ? mine will do 2.9 np at 1.45v ;) but i'm having problems cooling so i went back to stock vcore ...

2.75 with 3200+ on Water 1.6v 270X10

Honestly I think the 3000+ are the best option is seems like more than half of these chips just die out at 2.7 no matter the temp, board, or Voltage. And almost every Properly Oc'd 3000+ I've seen can do 300X10. i think I wasted $50.

I will use Thermaltake Tower 112 Cu with Vantec Tornado 80mm. My stock speed cpu load at 38C and idle about 31C. I have no idea if it is good enough cooling. I wonder what is the water cooling average temperature with this type of CPU.

Oh the ram can easily do 215 2.5 3 3 7, as can the cpu, but the ram cant do 245 at any timings/volts that i have access to and the highest divider(166) in bios makes the ram 192 with a 245 htt, thats part of the reason i got the dfi, was for more ram options. Now all i need to do is get my WoW disks back from a friend so i can format and install these parts, yeah i know, its lame that i cant go without my WoW for a couple days :)

From looking around, it doesn't seem like people are getting much extra speed on water compared to decent air. But who knows, so please post all the info I asked for in the first post guys. The poll can't be perfect and we need more details to get a good idea of what is going on with these chips.

My 3700 SD is on the front porch as I write this. Unfortunately, I have a busy weekend of honey-do's waiting for me, but I'll certainly try to get it in and up on water sometime.

hmmm

Im only on air...lowly stock HSF...

2800Mhz... 255 x11, 255 HTT (x3) Vcore 1.250 + 126% = 1.50Vcore

3700+ SD, cabbage special, ADA3700DAA5BN CABGE 0515 SPMW

Thats with 4x 512M Twinmos TMII UTT, 8,2,2,2.0 2T @ 3.4V (using 5V) on DFI NF4 Ultra-D converted to SLI-D. X850XT @ stock, 2x 36G Raptor raid0.

It fails prime/Superpi 32M at 260Mhz x11, 260Mhz x10 is fine, as is 250-255Mhz x11. SO much over 2.80Ghz on stock cooler is too much.

Low 30C's idle, to high 40C's load on stock AMD retail HSF.

SuperPi (mod 1.4) 1M= 30.156sec, 32M= 26min39.281sec

The 260x11 1M is 29.500sec but 32M fails.

My chores are done for the evening. I'm going to run a few benchmarks with the Winchester at 10x200, memory at default 200 Mhz 2-2-2-5. Then I'll put in the SD and if it hopefully boots, I'll try setting the 2T timing to 1T using A64 Tweaker and run the same benchmarks. This is just to see what difference the core and extra L2 Cache makes. Then maximum OC at various multiplier and FSB settings. I will not be able to report the temperature difference as the circuitry on my motherboard for that function is permanently disabled. I read my temperature with an AMD approved external reader like the one pHaestus uses. Since that involves a major mod to the CPU and wanting to preserve the warranty for the moment, I'll wait a few days on that, as well as removing the IHS.

Be back in about a half hour...

Okay, it took me more than a half hour, but this is virgin territory for me and a sizable investment to take care of. I only did brief benchmarks, namely SuperPi and 3D Mark 2001se. After typing this, I'm off to bed while the rig runs Prime95 Torture In-place large FFTs.

Here's what I got so far:

Vcore and Vdimm measured at the socket.

11x240 @ 1.41 Vcore Memory 200 Mhz 2-2-2-5 @ 2.75 Vdimm

11x250 @ 1.47 Vcore Memory 208 Mhz 2-2-2-5 @ 2.75 Vdimm

11x260 @ 1.57 Vcore Memory 217 Mhz 2-2-2-5 @ 2.75 Vdimm
Note: I could not run my memory at this speed and timings with the Winchester.

Sorry I'm too pooped to do more tonight. I imagine the AS5 has not settled in yet, so I may be able to get more tomorrow in between honey-do's. Now, I'll fire up Prime95 and see if its still running when I get up.

I'm impressed so far...

Quick Edit: Despite running SuperPi and 3D Mark 2001se fine, it didn't last 10 second in Prime95 Torture. Oh well... More of a challenge these next few days.

whats the stepping of you 3200+ ?

You mean my Winchester? It's a CBBFD 0441 UPBW

The San Diego is a CABGE 0515 SPMW

The Wife and daughter are out running errands, so I'm back at it for a while. Lots of combinations I'm finding that run SuperPi and 3D Mark 2001se but fail miserably in Prime95 Torture In-place Large FFTs. The most interesting observation so far, besides the difficulty finding a combination that passes P95, is 11x270 Passes MemTest86, but 10x270 fails, all else being the same.

Lest I forget, all speeds and timings being the same, the SD runs 3D Mark2001se 5% faster than the Winchester and SuperPi 1M 3% faster.

Back to testing...

Venice 3500+ LBBLE 2.855ghz @ 1.54V w/ 18+hours Prime95 large FFT stable, 32M Super PI stable, and megahours of CS:Source stable :) .

Air cooled w/ XP-90 and tornado @ 3000rpm for 33C idle and 44C load

(This may is hopefully not my max OC on the chip as I just got her).
