It works with the most recent version of cedega. You can only use up to DX8 though. So dont expect the graphics to be a pretty as in windows. If you have a decent system the game is vary playable.

I've used steam/CS:S with cedega, but my fps is about half of what it is in windows, and it doesn't look as good...

Is anyone here running steam on linux? Just curious.

ya i'm running it to play dod/specialists

performance is adequate simply because they're old hl1 mods... it installs easily and fast with cedega

but if you wanna play cs:s/hl2 i'd say dont bother
#1 graphics arent as good
#2 performance will be badd

I run CS and DoD, never tried HL2. If I had a new nVidia card I might, but I'm stuck with a Radeon 9200SE and ATI's lame drivers. I do, however, have it working with full direct rendering, and I get 60FPS on CS.

R2xx chips are fairly well supported by the open source dri drivers, so you don't have to use ATI's.

Gnufsh: Yes, the open-source hacked drivers for it work great, assuming I don't want to use any 3d acceleration. If I want the 3d, though, I have to use ATI's to get any performance whatsoever.

AFAIK, some of the developers got documentation under NDA, so they aren't "hacked." They also offer fairly decent performance (I don't know how they compare, I haven't used ati's in years).

I run HL/HL2 and cs/cs:s under cedega without any real issues. Performance is fine in HL and is a bit slower under HL2 in comparison with Windows, but all in all no complaints.
