Raptors: Are they worth it?

Thanks, I think I've decided on the 36 GB tho. That way it will be cheaper to get the Raptors in raid once I sell my 2 current IDE drives.

I found that the 36 GB raptors are cheapest here..

They say that they're "Repackaged", does basically mean refurbished? It says that the drives are under a 5 year manufacturer warrent so I'm not sure.

noisy? i've never noticed my raptors over my fans at all. even when reading/writing, if i turn the fans off they don't seem any louder than any other hard drive. if you have an otherwise silent pc you might notice them, but they're worth it!

i got a standalone 36 raptor.. and i am very happy with the performance... i mean i double clock and its up... no wait times

i will try what most did 2x36 raid 0...

My friend has 2 x 36 gig raptor in RAID 0 on an athlon64 3400+. And wow..... No joke we installed windows xp pro FULLY in around 15 minuites. Also the bootup times and game loading times are VERY nice.

Pretty much yeah!

They are fast, they are a tad on the loud side though.

Yeah they are loud , but thats just something to compromise for a RAPTOR
