Ok, here's the deal.

On our network we have a PC in our network that I can't locate physicaly. I have a computer name, IP, and a mac address. Is there a way I can match a logged on user to that machine?

Thanks

Lee

Assuming you have local admin rights on the pc,

browse to it, \\computer name\c$

then check in C:\docs & settings for profiles. Hopefully there will only be a few profiles in there - administrator, default user, all users, and then the username of the person who normally logs in.

Send them messages using the Windows Messenger, telling them to call the IT department?

The command line is:

net send 192.168.0.1 Hi, can you please call extension 123, thanks.

(of course, you can see where the IP address and your message goes!)

Tried the net send and the message service was turned off. I haden't throught of the \\computername\c$.. before. Good thinking.

I did find who it was. My supervisor missed it in some documentation, but I found it there.

Thanks for the help.
