i want to make myself a controllers by myself
i was thinking to make it a 12/reho/5

i have a SF2 120 (right now on fanmate) and some other 120's
i'll buy some thunderblades ( or other good 120)

but due to the big amount of controllers i don't know which one to make

need help ppl

i think i'll go with LM317
and follow and this this guide and this guide
i need some things:
1. is it ok to use Polarized Aluminum for C2 as guide 2 says or just tantalum
2. R1 1000 or 240 ?
3. what parts do i need to make from a reho a 12/reho and 12/reho/5

1 looks like aluminum caps will be fine. Tantalum is a very precise cap and tended to be more expensive. But we shouldn't worry about minor value varation with fans.

2 Go with 1k

3 I'm not sure I understand 12/rheo and 12/rheo/5 but if you wanted one that is 12v to ground and another 12v to 5v (7v total) then just built the circuit the same. The voltage input would just be different.

i want to be able to choose between:
12 - full speed
reho - 6.5 - 10.5 (or what ever the LM317T gives me)
5 - silent mode
by using a switch
