I find that my I9300 gets very hot, currently I have the back elevated so that the fans get more air, is there a better solution?

Hot when doing what? Mine does not get hot at all. It helps leaps and bounds if you open in up and apply good thermal paste to the CPU and GPU... it takes time though but worth it IMO. How hot is it getting?

Most people at notebookforums.com like the pacific breeze, it fits well between the CPU and GPU fans and blow air across the underside of the laptop while also elevating the back.

My 9300 is being shipped now and since I'm going to use it in a warm client, I ordered a pacific breeze.

I'll post some results after they both get here :)

The better solution would be by not physical means. You could download centrino control or cpu control and adjust voltage on every multiplier. Also it would good to adjust in power setting for the laptop to be set to portable, that it will run on lowest multipier when cpu power isn't needed.

If noise isn't your concern find on internet called fangui, with this program you can force both cpu and gpu fans to run on high setting all the time. Good place to look for link is on www.notebookforums.com

I have i9kfangui (which is incredibly hard to find online) and Centrino hardware control working on my system where the cpu and gpu are bolth overclocked ~30% and I highly reccomend bolth programs.

I8kfangui kinda works on a 9300 but it's buggy(it was designed for 8xxx series laptops).

to make i9kfangui work on your laptop you have to first install i8kfangui to get a required dll or other imporntant file... then you can just replace i8kfangui execuatable with i9kfangui executable.
