cant find driver!

im trying to fix my friend's lappy
she's got a gateway 3040gz
w/a 24x combo drive
the model # on the burner is ts-l462a
its a samsung according to my google search, but windows nor google can find a driver!

any1 know where i can get 1?
btw i checked gateway's site and couldnt find it there either!

windows shouldn't require a driver, all optical's are native to the OS.

that's not a driver problem, per se. It's an initialization problem.

Have you simply tried uninstalling and then letting Win reinstall?

This problem happening in notebooks when there is a virus problem. (most of the time) And the otehr problem will be loose connection inside. well I think you better do a online virus scan and make sure there's no virus in the machine. Let us know abt this and we can further support.
