Guess what the nice UPS man bringed unto me today? Indeed, the possible biggest bang for the buck ATI card on the market right now. This will probably usher in a new era for ATI as they bring out the new series of cards very very soon. I'm going to do the flash and overclock this as fast as I can on stock hsf and then I'll move up to my ati-silencer or copper Zalman. Either way this should be fun with lots of pretty pictures and stuff..... to start you off this is what shows up in 3DMark05..... it's an X850 card and sure enough it does have the R480 core just like the X850XT big brother..... This could be fun ;) I bumped up the clocks a little bit and let my first 12pipe benchmark rip just so you can have a nice pretty picture to look at..... stay tuned as I will be abusing this card all day.:D

Still on stock cooling we've now hit the XTPE core barrier...... My case has superior cooling but the card still hasn't broke 56° load.... not bad for an aluminum heatsink. No artifacts yet......

549/549 clocks locked up 3DMark05, so I'm gonna soon flash it to 16pipes...... this card is supposed to have 1.6ns memory so I'm sure there is plenty more headroom in the memory department. I should get more core clocks when I switch to better cooling also. I haven't done anything to the drivers so this is all stock so far.

The Sapphire Trixx software found the max at 490/572..... now on to the flash.... ;)

So after some time away I've had a chance to flash the card to 16 pipes, which was a total success..... so far these are at 100% success rate for flashing to 16 pipes.

back to the same clocks as in the very first picture we can see the over 500 point improvement by opening up the 4 extra pipes...... With these clocks on stock cooling I'm already within 30 points of my highest ever X800XL score and I'm still using the drivers at stock settings with stock cooling..... this is already a better value than my X800XL & ATI-Silencer.

So I take it my x800 XT PE is superior to the X850 xt? I am just wondering cause I get 63xx with the slower system. This is on stock speeds as well.

Oh and I forgot to say congrat on the overclock. If I wouldn't have gotten the great deal I would have been all up on the x800gto2

My guess is this card will end up somewhere between an X8XX XT and XTPE..... Just doesn't cost as much as a the bigger cards...... my X800XTPE was good for 6800 on NF2 architecture. These R480 cores must have been the ones that failed to meet XT standards....

Just to highlight the difference a little.....

GL bro..... this is an insane deal considering the cost of my X800XL.... I don't know if these will score as high as the refurb X800Pro cards but I'm already satisfied. After a few more tests I'll get down to serious overclocking and I'll switch over the cooling.

nice, you try 520/590 yet?
540/590 is XTPE clocks..... according to Sapphire Trixx my ram or core won't clock that high but I'm gonna give it a shot once I get off the stock cooling. Card locked up when I clocked at 540/560....... once I get the better cooling on there it's gonna come close to XTPE speeds.

Is this the same one as the one on newegg? I'm really interested in getting my hands on one for a new build :)

422/574 after opening up the extra pipes (core was 490 before the flash) according to Sapphire Trixx.... Hopefully the better cooling will get those numbers back up.....
