Opitical out dont work p4p800e deluxe?

The opical out doesnt work on my p4p800e deluxe, the cable is fine as it works with my tecnics cd player to mini disc.
But when plugged into my motherboard output there is no red light like its not enabled.

The onboard ac97 is turned of as i use a soundblaster live 24bit sound card.

Any help and advice is really welcome as i have never used opitical out before.

Some one must have an idea?

you need to turn on the AC97 if the optical out is in fact on your motherboard..

my P4P800 doesn't have optical out
