Very simple question.

My buddy has an HP Pavilion ze5300. His HD is taking a crap. It is a 40 gig travelstar ATA5 model number IC25N040ATCS04-0.

Now I think he can replace it with this:

The price is right, the storage is the same, its got a much larger buffer.

The question I have is will it be compatible. The reason I ask, is because the the drive on new egg is ATA6, I am not very familiar with the difference between the two interfaces.

it should be compatable... make sure that the pins are the same cause in very rare situations you may have to get an adaptor to like change it from female to male or vise versa...
