I just bought a 815EPFV mobo.
I have trouble installing the device drivers on the
hard disk.
This is what I did:
1. Start computer with a WIndows 98 start-up
disk with CD support
2. Format the HD, and start installing Windows98
3. After Windows 98 installation, and the computer
is running I insert the Intel device drivers installation
CD, and let the installation program to install the
device drivers.
4. After several restarts, my computer could not
get into windows under Normal boot. Only allows
SafeMode boot.

I tried reformat several times, same problem.

help is appreciated!!!

Not sure if I can help or not, but on my I-815EP board, I had to install the drivers in a certain order. I had to install the Intel I-815 INF driver, then reboot and install the ATA100 drivers after the reboot. Also, you might check your motherboard manufacturer's website for an updated set of drivers. As a matter of fact, if they have the drivers on the website, you might want to install using them instead of the CD. The CD might be damaged. If you still can't get any joy, you can go to Intel's chipset support site and you will find 5 or 6 different sets of I-815EP drivers. One of them might work, but I wouldn't know which to tell you to try. Hope you are able to get it straightened out.
