My dad got this from his work, intel gave it to him to cut in half and look at under the microscope. It says confidential on it. Could this be anything good? I can get better pics if anyone is interested.

Yes, it's an engineering sample aka ES chip.

BTW, anybody who has one of those is supposed to be under NDA. it's not a real good idea to be showing those things in case it was a chip that was under a very tight NDA. He could get into trouble.
 
well, they're intels property for 3 years after the date on them... the chip is marked 99, and its 2005, so he won't get in trouble for it
