DV camcorder help please

I have a JVC camcorder I just bought and want to use the windows movies maker to make movies of my new little boy. Looks like the camcorder has a plug on the back that says DV. I assume its a 4 wire firewire port. I don't have firewire in my machine. If I buy this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16815104226 Will I be able to access my camcorder? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The Camcorder is a JVC model GR-D270.

I would get virtualdub to capture if the Movie Maker doesn't work to capture (I haven't used that before)

Your camera supports both USB and Firewire so if you have a small USB for an mp3 player, still camera, plam... you can just use that.
