So, a 6800nu compared to a 6800GS: The GS can clock higher, but can you also unlock the extra pipes and shaders as you can in the 6800nu, or does it not have them there for the unlocking?

No thats an nu only thing... also its only the AGP versions IIRC

The GS has the same core that the NU has. You can unlock the extra pipes and shader, but just like with the NU it is going to be 50/50 chance. You can also overclock teh GS and I have seen posts on other sites where people got some decent overclocks.

well look and see most of the best clocks are always from eVGA and Leadtek...

and I have had my hands on 2 eVGA 6800gs cards, for builds for friends, they both did 525+/1200+

unless your going to save a bundle of cash by going with another company it seems like a no brainer.

Agreed! Besides I have hardly heard of Albatron and my friend lives by XfX and he is always having problems. Although he is cheap so XfX fits into his budget better.

i'd just get the xfx from newegg, it's cheaper than the refurb gainward and the others aren't in stock.

Absolutely. The XFX in my sig does quite well 6334 (3M05) despite the stock HS. (515/1275 or something similar).

I say the same thing every time... eVga's warranty covers overclocking and it even allows you to change the stock cooler without voiding the warranty... you can't get any better than that, why pay a premium for a pre-oc'd card... just get eVga, they have a great warranty. My next card is certainly going to be an eVga card.

edit:

Wow looks like eVGA overclocks the best, now I jsut have to wait for someone to get them in stock!

Thanks everyone!

excellent choice :)

they should get desent clocks the GS has the 6x00 core @11nm instead of 13nm...http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/6800gs
then http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/6800gs/images/6800gstableb.jpg
i would take a GS and try to unlock the pipes.... you should get much faster core speeds and maybe 1.2ghz on the ram if lucky and should get close to the ultra.... im stating i didnt spend but $60 for the ultra im using... long story....
