Wasn't there a front page article about this in semi-recent history?
I have a custom install for Win2k that I made, Sp4 slipstreamed in, all updates run through autopatcher, a few programs that I need on first boot and so on.
The real challenge is going to be rebuilding the cabs with all updates and modifications installed, but that will be for a boring weekend when I have nothing better to do...

Check out nLite, you can mod the windows install to however you wish. You can also install things such as new icon packs etc.

Scott.

nLite has had a consistent habit of breaking Windows whenever I have tried to modify anything, and creating bad CD images even when I haven't modified anything.

Thats odd. I've created probably 10 or so windows installs with nlite i've had no problems. Its constantly being updated, worth trying again i'd say.

Probably, but then again for what I do I just prefer to use a cab extracter and manually replace files. I resized, modified, and bitmapped all the dialogs and menus I run use (Can't be bothered to make flashy grafix for the handicapable wizard and whatnot) so it was mostly just replacing files. Not to mention all the Windows updates and reg settings. That took a while.
I hope nLite is more stable now. If it has developed, that would be a really good tool for those people who don't want to get up to their shoulders in Windows filth...
