why is my computer booting slowly now?

well for over 2 years my computer booted pretty fast ie) reading the type of hard drive, and what type of cd-roms etc was hooked up..

but now it boots very slowly, it does the memory check and detection stuff extremely slow? any idea?

On some ASUS boards I have used when you plug in too many USB devices it does that....just a thought - I had the issue on a PC-DL.

Try cleaning up your hard drive and defraging it.
