Computer gaming is not really going to end, if anything it will grow because atleast in my area computers are becoming more popular and people are spending more time on them, which is invevitably leading to more gamers on computers. As for this overclock thing it really does not seem to big of a deal, just one more card that we have to memerize the bench results for before we buy a card.

I dont actually think computer gaming will end.
But amny will be driven to the XBOX on the Video Card Industrys quest for $1000 Gaming Cards

Computer gaming will not come to an end anytime soon.
Every new generation of consoles that comes out always comes with some stoopid game reviewer or console promoter foretelling the death of PC gaming "now that console graphics are just as good or better". Well guess what, it hasn't happened yet and nor will it happen anytime soon. Why? Because PC gaming, while a hell of a lot more expensive than console gaming, offers the luxury of the highest fidelity graphics and performance. When the PS2 came out, everyone was amazed by the graphic realism it was able to display. At that point, it was at or beyond the level that PC graphics were at. Likewise, the PS3 is likely to be regarded with the same response when Sony finally releases the thing. But the thing is that consoles have a ~five year lifespan, while graphics cards have about six to eighteen month lifespan. In the time the PS2 has been out, we have seen major improvements to PC gaming graphics, multiple generations of graphics cards release, and an overall increased level of detail to the games that consoles just cannot currently match, excluding the 360.
PC gaming is nowhere near dying. It may be becoming a luxury over console gaming, but people are still going to play on PCs as well.
At least they better, or ol' WASD fingers here is gonna have to get his hands surgically mutated to be able to hold a controller without getting owned...
