If you believe what the Inq says:

CORSAIR is not making much noise about it but it is about to step in to the Power Supply unit business.
It is a cool thing to do and it seems everyone wants the part of the action. We saw Zalman doing it and now Corsair is set to follow suit. Its memory competitor OCZ has also been flogging its own Power Supply Units for a while and has had quite some success with it.

Corsair is keeping quiet but it won't be long before you see Corsair-branded Power Supply Units. We hear it wants to jump in to the high-end market rather than entry-level.

With the crazy power requirements of dual or even quad graphic card systems, powered with a lot of memory and a very power-demanding CPU you need as much juice as your local substation can kick out.

High-end systems require at least a 600W PSU to run without any troubles.

Not so long ago we were using 140W PSUs for powering the whole system, together with the display. Those times are fading away. µ

I always wonder about these companys stepping into arease that they apparently have no experience in, do they build the units themselves or simply brand another companies stuff?

None of them build something on their own. Sometimes they do, but it's the exception rather than the norm. They might design the item or buy it lock, stock and barrel from some Taiwanese outfit with fabrication in China. Dell/Corsair/OCZ/Thermaltake/etc stick their label on it and sell it for 100% markup basically, since now it's a "brand name" item.
The companies actually producing the toys are usually called ODMs - Original Design Manufacturer if the taiwanese company owns the actual design. It's called CM - Contract Manufacturer if the (western) company owns the design.

I'm curious to see who they will be using. Hopefully, not another Topower design, though they could do worse. I'd like to see them use Etasis or Zippy.

Or them too

Sure would be nice to have options to buy PSU's from these manufacturer's in Canada. Hopefully, Corsair can bring them to us. It's hard to find these.
