The 160GB Dell Raptors do exist, as do 80GB units. I suppose it's all due to differences in marketing - Dell wants them to be sized more like consumer SATA drives, while WD wants them to be sized more like SCSI units.

link is not dead TRY THIS

it's now 180, but there was a coupon this morning that brought it down to 150.

EDIT: C99$273GQ1L4W8 was the coupn, but it now only drops it down to 170. Is this the same thing as the 150Gig raptor advertised elsewhere?

Well, in fact, a 160GB raptor is a 150GB with the "marketing" way of counting bytes. 160 000 000 000 bytes comes down to about 152 GB, same as 80 000 000 000 bytes makes aroung 74GB for a computer...

Don't get fooled... Dell crap...

I see... I definitely wasn't drooling over the "extra" 10gigs, I was just amazed by the price tag. I mean, with that discount it cost as much as a 74Gb raptor

The Dell-distributed Raptors are larger than their WD-badged siblings. Read the WD tech specs, they list the Raptor's capacity as 150,039MB with the footnote disclaimer of "1 gigabyte (GB)=1 billion bytes. Total accessible capacity varies depending on operating environment."

(150.039 * 1,000,000,000) / 2^30 = 139.73...

Don't think for a second Dell is doing something WD doesn't do every second, other than giving you more space for less dollars.

Ya, and only the 1 yr. warranty.. I cancelled my order when I got a confirmation on the warranty.. Pay the extra for the 4 more years of warranty.
