you don't have to get AM2+, unless you want HT3.0....and your AM2 cpu will work in AM2+ btw

AM3 seems to have been moved back to 2008
 
You are reading that chart wrong.
Because what it means is this:

754: +- 27% of AMD's production in Q3 of 2006
939: +- 33% of AMD's production in Q3 of 2006
am2: +- 40% of AMD's production in Q3 of 2006

Then it may be a possibility. This chip is still plenty fast for my tastes, BUT the inability to get pci-e based Graphics cards for it, or to upgrade to a decent quantity of ram thats worth a turd, is driving me up a wall...:beer:
