Tapping F8 won't get me into Safe Mode

I use to be able to get into Safe Mode by tapping F8 during boot. Then, a while went by that I didn't have the need to get into safe mode. Now, tapping F8 doesn't work anymore. Anytime I want to get into safe mode I have to go into msconfig and check /safeboot under boot.ini, and then uncheck it to get out of safe mode.

Anybody know why this is happening? Is there a change I can make in the registry to fix this?

Registry changes won't do anything, they only effect the OS after it's loaded. Are you using a USB keybord? If so you need to enable USB support in BIOS.
