There are new ATI 6.12 Beta drivers out, which provides a new Anti-Aliasing (AA) method, similar to Adaptive Anti-Aliasing (AAA), but without the performance hit, called Alpha Coverage (EATM), which blends alpha textures.

This reduces the jaggies in some of the alpha textures in RACE, such as barriers and fences.

Here are a few screenshots at 1920x1080 2xAA 8xAF

With EATM OFF

With EATM ON

Look at the side barriers, the fence, and the barrier on the bridge ahead. The higher the AA the better it looks of course.

You enable it via a registry tweak or through ATI Tray Tools.

His a link discussing it, with instructions further on.

Nice. Can't wait for them to release Vista more vista compatible drivers. Wonder what the RC2 released drivers are based off of.

wow.. i feel like a giant abnormal donkey ... or maybe its just that i have the flu and a fever of 101 ..

only thing i could make out before everything started spinning and me getting nauseated was the bridge rails.. and a bit of the fence .. is that what im suppose to see or is there more somewhere ??

either way thats cool that a driver fixed that.. i just want to make sure im not missing anything else.. hows about a little ms paint with some circles.. a soft color preferred :D

Had these drivers for almost a week. I've enjoyed them but your pictures honestly do suck for showing what they do.

I ahve more pics, but these were the first ones I managed to load up. Well, I don't know why, but imageshack keeps telling me that my .PNG and .TIFF files are not valid extensions. I've loaded tons of them before with no problems. :(

One of the claims with the fix was with the trees looking better. I don't see a huge difference without the tweak. Maybe I'm missing something here. I'll post more pics of railings etc pretty soon.

Installed these over the weekend. Look great so far on my x1900xt, but I've noticed in Company of Heroes, with the new EATM enabled via ATI Tray Tools, that the trees are now nearly transparent, and they're normal with EATM off. Not a huge problem, actually helps a little if you have units hiding behind bushes and such. Just wondering if anyone else had things like this happen. So far, BF 2142 is running much better, especially playing Titan matches, and everything else I've run is the same or better.

didnt get a chance to try these anyone know when they will hit ati.com? im guessing around the 12th like the 6.11 who knows but i dont feel like trying the beta yet. i dont know why but this font is awesome.

that is a game called RACE. its a wtcc game. i dont really like it much. that, along with all of the other simbin games are kinda... meh. http://www.simbin.se/

my favorite is live for speed because it has the most realistic physics and multiplayer is great. rfactor is another racing game out that looks pretty good.

here's an ingame screenshot of the ctdp F1 2005 mod for rfactor.
