Setting up a server

ok i followed the link in one of the stickies to choose which distro will be the best for me.

SO i downloaded ubuntu got it installed successfully, got apache intalled, by following the guide on their site. But how do i modify files in the etc or vars directory?

this is my first time using linux

ATM i am trying in a VM so i know my ways around once i get my computer for my server

you require admin privilages 'sudo' the file into your favorite text editor

example:- sudo gedit /etc/unseenmenace

thanks it worked, i am moding the files to get it to point to my index.html
