if i buy a water cooling system for my opteron 165 skt 939, will it be useless if i want to upgrade to a different socket in the future? Or can i simply buy a new generic cpu cooling block and replace the old one to make the system compatible with a future upgrade?

so could i keep a single water cooling system and change out the bracket every once in a while when i upgrade?

if so,

what systems can you recommend?

Whay size case do you have and how much do you have to spend
I simple list would be
-Storm or White water or apogee or TDX
- D5 pump
- Rad will depend on size of case and how you want to mount it ( I wouldnt go any smaller than a 2x120mm rad

and even if the WB you got does not fit the new socket - all you need to do is get a new one, making sure the tube barb is the same. The parts on your loop are generally replaceable!
