You're a little confused about what an .iso file is. I'm no expert, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.....

An .iso file is an image of the original. When you burn an iso to an optical disk it (the burning program) puts the files (.exe's and all) back in the order they were in on the original disk. If you just copied the original disk the file order on the new disk may or may not come out matching the original. Some programs require that their files be in a specific order for the program to function.

And let's be carefull here and not get this thread closed.....

You just need a burning progran that supports burning .iso's...Nero works well.
There are also many free programs too.

I use Alcohol 120%. It is a great program that can be used legally, but many people choose to go the other way with it.

I think what he wants is an iso packaged to self-extract and burn itself.

I think it should be pointed out that not even Microsoft does that with it's iso's.

The problem with an automated approach is that not everyones hardware is the same, and more than one program may be used to do the work.

I agree with Nero being easy to use. Though I've only used it under windows.
I didn't think K3B was bad, but it definitely needs some lessons in ergonomics.

The important thing to remember is that an iso is a cd "image". So no matter what program you use, it will be possible to burn it wrong. You don't want a cd with an iso file on it (been there, done that).

Pick a program, and if you need help on how to use it, then ask for help on it.

thanks for the info

but i ended up converting to .exe by accident

using k3b burning program

scrolled up to TOOLS

clicked burn cd

then just clicked BURN

after the burning process finished

yhen screen said ERROR

FILES DO NOT MATCH

then a separate window showed all relative boot log files

successfully copied

hmmm that was weird

but it worked

but pc linux os really stinks

it would not even attempt to find my computers i.p. address

let alone look for my hard wired modem

it would only look for wireless modems

at least freespire set everything up automatically

the only other process i had to do

was download and install the video card drivers
