I got a p5b motherboard with a problem...it's got 4 sata connections and one pata. I originally installed XP on it with one HDD and one dvd drive attached, then later removed the dvd as i borrowed it from my second computer, and added two more hdds. Now i bought me a separate dvd drive, and BIOS wont recognize it?

It gives me several options to configure the sata stuff, not exactly sure on the terms but ive tried them all and it never recognizes the drive. It's powered, connected, and does work in the other computer so i feel i must be missing something here..Asus website or manual doesnt give any clues.

any help appreciated :)

Make sure that your jumper settings (Master/Slave) are set correctly on any IDE devices. Opt for specific Master/Slave settings over cable select.
