Change Hard Drive in factory USB external drive?

I have a Maxtor One Touch II external with a 100gb drive in it. I have an older 160gb IDE WD Caviar drive that I would like to make into an external. I have another external setup on the way 500gb 7200.10 and Antec MX-1. But, I would like to have another to loan out to friends and for extra backup ect.


Would that work??

well i think it should as long as your external is pata as well, but maybe I'm not 100% sure so if someone can correct me, feel free
