So, is the ATi moniker gone?

I dont think they are changing the name, just saying that AMD is now using ATi as a media section.
 
R600 and R650 are designed by ATi - and ATi alone.

The next generation (R700) is the first GPU design that AMD actually has control on. AMD's know-how on transistor/circuit scale power efficiency and multicore will bring low power into high performance GPUs.
 
God, yes I sold my old X800GTO2 the day AMD bought ATI because it knocked at least 3000 points off my 3DMark scores there and then :D
 
Sad was 3Dlabs disappearing despite producing better designs than Nvidia or ATI, in this case it is still the same kind of products developed by the same team, it's just a new brand.
