A few months ago I bought the Cooler Master Ammo from Newegg. It looked kinda neat at first. I really like how the inside of the case is set up. It has toolless mounting for drives and cards, and good airflow due to two 120mm fans at the front and rear. After a couple months, the looks of the outside started to wear on me. It just looks so freaking overdone and cheesy. So I figure its time to do a little work on it.
First off I cut out the stock fans grills front and back, but thats boring so no pics. Next was to take the Side vent things off and add a window. I just cut a piece of plexi and drilled some holes through the side panel and plexi. I attatched the plexi with the little pushpin things that expand when you push the center pin through.
In the above pic I already have the edge protector thingys removed.
And here they are. I'm going to take the brushed aluminum inserts out of these as well as the ones around the front panel and paint them black. Then vinyl dye the black plastic a flat olive green. Since I actually like the case more without them, they may just stay in the storage bin if I don't like the paintjob.
I am also gonna dye the black parts of the front panel green, except the metal mesh. That will stay black. All of the silver parts, the drive bay covers and the silver trim around the mesh, will be dyed flat black.
If I still dont like it after I paint it up a little, I'll just take all the trim pieces off and make a new faceplate. I might even break out the sandpaper and give the paint a "flat" finish., or just paint the whole thing green.
Comments and suggestions are welcome.
