My laptop can play music very loudly, but DVDs are downright quiet, no matter the program...

Any ideas?

Use vlc, I had the same problem with my laptops tiny speakers and programs like Nero Showtime and Power DVDs audio out put levels. Vlc lets you raise the volume past 100% acting like a amp or something. Off the top of my head i think it lets you go up 4 (or 400%?) times the normal volume level. Let me know if that works for ya.

vlc was quieter then WMP, and I cant find how to up the volume above normal..:-/

Thats due to the AC3 codec. I dont recall whic but there is an AC3 codec that allows you to reduce the attenuation to amplify the signal.
