I have an acer 5612 Wlmi laptop, with the following characteristics:
• Processor: Intel® Core™ Duo T2300 - 1,66GHz
• Chipset: Mobile Intel Calistoga i945PM
I want to upgrade to an T7200 or an T5600 Core2Duo, i sent an email to acer and the said to me :
“We inform that motherboard is assigned to function with one determined type of chipset and an alteration, will be able to cause conflicts with the memories (frequency), the processor and the hard disk, problems that would not be foreseen in the guarantee conditions, therefore this equipment was made to function with the Centrino processor Core Duo T2300. The only possible alterations would be the memories and the HD. “
But when i visited acer's homepage i found my bios update (5610 series) an the referring .txt file i saw this:
“[Fixed history] v3.50 -
1. Add nVidia errata of 540874.
2. Updat EC BIOS.
3. Fixed T5300 cpu issue.
(....)

"fixed T5300 cpu issue", however if according to to acer is not possible to place one core2duo why is this writhed there? :bang head

1- Does anyone knows if last 5610 series bios update supports C2D?
2 - Has any one done this yet?
3- Does it work?
4- Is a BIOS upgrade required?
5- a BIOS upgrade required?
6- Does Acer have a bios upgrade for CPU this change?
7 If you know some one who upgraded the processor (T2300) of an 5612 wlmi to an C2D, can u post the voltage settings and some tips.

Do the bios update and give it a try. Obviously the board supports C2D if they are updating the bios to better support T series CPUs
