So, my 7+ year old CRT (17" 1280x1024) is starting to darken drastically, which means after all these years I'm finally getting a new monitor. There are some rules to set up though.

  • Widescreen (16:9 or 10)
  • At least 1440x900
  • Low (<5ms) response time
  • Small, I don't have much space
  • <$250
This shouldn't be too hard, there are plenty of monitors on Newegg and the like. There were a few I was looking at, they're this Samsung, this Asus, and this Dell.

I'm sure you guys know of way better monitors than these, but they make a good average.

Anyone? I know you guys get asked this really often, but seeing as this is technically my first "upgrade" to a new monitor, I only know what the details mean, I don't know of people's experiences.

Just asking for a recommendation, not to build me a computer.

How about this one?

I'm planning on picking one up this week, just need to sort out some details with another project for a family member first.
