warm ? eVGA 8800 ultra $560

The 1GBs show little to no improvements over the 512MB from a few pro reviews that were out. Maybe newer drivers help a bit but probably help the 512MB as well. More memory isn't needed and more memory speed might not even matter. The 2900pro does look like a fair bang-for-buck competitior to the 8800 320MB especially because it is pretty much an underclocked 2900xt.

As soon as my camera sells, one of these will be mine!

Then I will immediately proceed to kill it dead with a water block just like my GTX.

Ordered one last night... Estimated ship date 11/2 lol! Waiting until next frigging month isn't worth the few bucks I save.
