Just bought this Video card today (YES!) . it is a PNY and would like to know with all the new drivers and all I want to OC the card (If passable ) .
My question is this I have had the 91.47 Nivdea drivers for as long as I can remember and well I don't know how to OC this video card not to mention Ntune is a total loss on me ATT.
Is there some kind of way to have this oc by detecting the optimal settings on it's own ?Q9650@4.0GHz , ASUS P5Q pro turbo MB , 8GB Kingston Hyper X RAM @890MHz, HD5870 , 2 Seagate Barracuda HDD RAID0 , Corsair TX850w , Windows 7 64 bit , Custom water cooling .

dont use ntune its garbage
this is what you want
as far as drivers are concerned this is what you want
vista 32bit and 64bit
ditch your old driver first, highly recommended to get one of the new drivers here for whichever OS your on and then grab rivatuner 2.05, thru guru3d there's a faq and guide for how to use it.

your welcome !
looks like your rig is nice and OC'd
you've done well so far !
these cards usually dont hit a barrier till around 625/950, and those are the worse cards I have seen.

a little advice, using rivatuner turn up your fanspeed on the card. I like 85% because its quieter than 100 but it knocks off quite a few degress off idle and load temps.

I had some fan issues with that, so I did driver level over clocking, and then manually set the value for minimum fan speed to 100%. Eh >_>
Getting 11,593 on my 8800GTS 320MB here E6600 @ 3.4Ghz.
What core revision is it? A3's beat the crap out of A2's.

I do not know what core revision it is .Q9650@4.0GHz , ASUS P5Q pro turbo MB , 8GB Kingston Hyper X RAM @890MHz, HD5870 , 2 Seagate Barracuda HDD RAID0 , Corsair TX850w , Windows 7 64 bit , Custom water cooling .

the only cards that come with A3's are the ultras and the ACS3 cards
rivatuner will tell you though should see A2 320mb

Well one thing I have found is that there are some more clocks according to your post I haven't a clue as to where thies said clocks are . all I have is core and ram !
I am still on win XP and I really would like to see clocks that high but I really dought this card will go any higher than what I have now . 590/805 is the best I can do so far .
I am not all that good at ocing my video card so if you all have an easy safe way let me know ok . thanks .
any way with said speeds got this to show off !
Would really love to see it go to 11k - 12k but I think that I am not that good at all this .

The middle clock is the shader clock
Download GPU-Z and start using RivaTuner to overclock, it's a lot better.

OK I did this now what ?
10-07-07, 08:38 PM #14
Well first thing I would do is set up the fan to run at 100%, then take a look at the monitoring stuff.
Just keep bumping up the speeds until something dies! Make sure to test this with a 3D application like RTHDRIBL or ATiTool's fuzzy cube thing. I used Crysis as my test, since it demands more than anything else I can throw at it.
I get idle temp of 60C and 72C under 3DMark06
10-07-07, 09:17 PM #15
Well any thing past 805 on the RAM and 3Dmark06 freezes up during the first test !
I have 590/805 and well that would be nice but most are getting way faster on the ram and core than I can .
I guess I have a non over clocker is all .

What temps and what is the fan % duty cycle, and RPM at?
You should be getting way more than that. I benched at 999 memory, when I can only game at 945.
10-07-07, 11:06 PM #17
that doesnt sound right, i never seen one that didnt do 925 at least.

Which pci-e slot are you running the card in?
Are you running the card on a dedicated psu rail, and does it have the adequate amps for that card?
Never hurts to try a driver uninstall/ safe mode driver cleaner/ driver re-install though...Dell Inspiron 640m
