Well, this is a question from someone looking into my powersupply for sale in the classies... They were wondering if this power supply (5v = 40A, 12v = 18A, shared rails I believe) would power an AMD rig with a 5000+ Black or Phenom with an 8800 series card... Would it? Of course you would need adapters for the PCIe connector, but does the PSU have enough oomph to power such a rig? The 18A is low on the 12v, but I do remember the 5v and 12v rails being shared.

I would say no.

with modern PCs you need a modern PSU.. .that is.. one where most of the rated watage is delivered on the 12v rail not the old 5v inflated psus.

I had an Enermax 535 with a 22a 12v and it handled an 8800 GTX and an e6600 without problems, over 4-5 months.
