Since I got a new case for my system I have decided to give my wife my old case. Which will have much better air flow.... But this got me thinking.

Her system is: P4 1600MHZ (Willamette core) socket 478
Super Micro Super P4SBA+ Motherboard
768MB of SDRAM PC100
ATI Radeon 9250 128MB

Is any one familiar with this Motherboard and CPU. If so, do you know if this set up can be OC'd or tweaked in any way????
I would love to get my hands on the original system software...

Any advice or suggestions would be wonderful

I'm pretty sure willamettes weren't great overclockers, That's a supermicro board i'm pretty sure they're normally server boards.

yea supermicro motherboards are for long term 24/7 usage. no ocing options what so ever. well you can if you pin mod the cpu... as in the board supports 533fsb cpu's and the cpu is a 400fsb one. being the stock fsb is 100mhz by using the pin mod you can trick the motherboard to think its a faster cpu aka 133fsb.

run cpuz on it to make sure it a willy core... i bet though its a northy, if not look for a northwood core cpu on ebay and go that route with pin modding.

I dont need to go through the problem of pin modding..... It is my wifes computer and she rarly does anything to tax the system. Pluss I dont know how to pin mod...
But I might look aroud for a faster P4 for it....

that would be the best since you need thin wire to drop in the socket for the pin mod.

i see she doesnt use the system much but in the interest of what is best for the long hual. would you be interested in a really cheap system. really low power usage and would blow away any p4 you could put into her system?

OK, you have got my curiosity. Christmas is just around the corner

use all new or reuse some of the current case/psu/harddriver/dvd to bring the cost down. i only suggested a new psu since im unsure of the current one you have in the case. this will not only run circles around her old one but use less power at the wall then it as well...:santa:
no video card in the list since the motherboard has onboard video.

Thanks, That is not a bad price. I will think about it....
With our first baby on the way we really have to pay attention to what we buy.
But a new MOBO and CPU might not break the bank.
