WIN 2000 drivers in XP?

my parents just got XP for their system and the drivers for their modem are win98 only so i was wondering if the win2000 drivers (which i can download form the manufacturers site as soon as their file download server is back up) will work?

Win2000 drivers *should* work - Ignore the 'this driver is not signed by m$' rubbish

What modem is it?
If it is an AMR PCtel modem, I have the XP drivers if you want them?
