correct.

The Score looks a little low to me, Was planning on benching in XP some point this week to compare. But fo rnow, thats my Vista 64 score using hardware and config in my sig.

PS. it's a GT not a GTS.

how would i learn how to modify the cfg file?

You will not need to with RT 2.06 for your 7900GTO. Only the ID for an G92 8800GTS
needs to be added to the 2.06 config file.

Open the Rivatuner.cfg with NotePad

In the [GPU_10DE] section change the line that reads:

G92 = 610h-61Fh

to

G92 = 600h-60Fh,610h-61Fh

thx Viper

hey while i have your attention what would be a good starting point for ocing my 8800 GTS?

i don't see to many people posting their results yet so I ask :p

I hope you don't mind VJ.

Edit: Reboot, my clocks are in my sig for my GTS. I think my results are fairly typical, and these clocks are rock-solid stable as far as I can tell.

I doubt there is a G92 GTS that won't run 756 x 1890 / 1062 right out of the box. Use RT to lock
the fan speed at around 60-75%. The higher the better but the stock cooler fan is really speedy
and starts making noise above 60% on my open bench test rig.

The memory weak spot that causes an early memory avalanche for the G92 GTS has changed to
3DM05 Canyon Flight (from 3DM03 Battle of ProxyCon for the G92 GT's) set to repeat 6-8 times.

15590 in 3DM06 on my first run, completely unoptimized at 730 core/1000memory (Q6600 at 3960). I bumped the video clock up a little and CPU down to 3.6 so I'll see what I can do.

I have an S1 due to arrive today, so that should definitely help the noise issue a little bit. This fan is a whinny little b**** ;)

Just remember that when benchmarking any card with 3DM06 a C2Q CPU will add 1200-1400
points to the 3DM06 final score over what a same clocked C2D will produce just from
the increased C2Q CPU scores.

The those extra points have no relevance in real world game play or other GFX card benchmarks
since none of them, with the exception of Crysis that does a terrible job of it, will multi thread
across more than 2 CPU cores. Many games and all other standard GFX card BM's only use one
CPU core.

thanks again :)
do I need to get the full version of 05 to check for the memory weak spot?

is 756 x 1890 / 1061 safe for now with out testing for the memory weak spot, and then maybe try to go higher once I put my cooler on it?

in case anyones interested, on my XFX
756 x 1890 / 1061 @ 60% fan speed gives me 54C idle and 72C load

Should be. You can't actually kill a stock card by OC'ing it. If it gets to warm it will either
artifact or lockup if it doesn't throttle first.

A 1061 set memory clock will get you a real clock 0f 1058 and change. The clock stepping
with the 169.xx drivers is kinda funly so to get 1062 true you have to set the clock at 1065.

Yes to run 3DM05 only and to set it to repeat you need a license ($).

I put it back to stock for now, gonna put my cooler on before i oc it, i dont like the noise of the fan above 60%

For now I don't own any games where i nee to oc this just yet :p

is this the best choice for a single vga right now?? i'm about to swap my 680i for a p35 or x38.

With one 8800GT, a q6600 and 4 gb of ram. (Plus a decent overclock) Will I be able to run crysis smooth? I want to be able to do it on the highest settings. Do I really need sli? I mean, I just bought a non sli mobo. So I hope i dont. LOL I probably will get one at some point. Also what is the BEST 8800GT regardless of $. I keep looking and looking and looking and everytime I look i think something different.

Hey ViperJohn,

when you say "756 x 1890 / 1062" is that Core x shader/ memory? or do I have memory and shader mixed up. I have not even tried to oc my card yet, but I still would like to know.

Thanks.

In WinXP yes. Just do not go nuts with the resolution. 1280x800 w/4X AA, 1440x900 w/2X AA
or 1680x1050 w/ no AA will give you fine game play in Crysis with all settings on high.

756 Core ROP x 1890 Core Shader / 1062 Memory (1065 setting).
