Its been a while since I built a rig, the last one had a small aluminum block for a heat sink, and had 4 hard drives that totaled less than 1gb.

Im looking for a pretty decent gaming setup, and intend to overclock it in the future, after buying a better psu and cooling. For now though, Ill just use it as is, until It gets a little lower in value.

I did my shopping on Tiger direct, as they seemed to have the best prices for what I was building. I was hoping one of you more experienced folk could help me with this so I dont buy the parts, only to find a severe bottleneck ect.

I also have some trival items, being a dvd burner, thermal paste, ect.

Also, I intend to use a copy of XP Pro from another computer, and just take the hard drive and put it in this new computer. Would there be a problem with doing this that I dont see?

Alright, I guess ill just install it from the disc then. Thanks.

Also, how overclockable would this system be, and what would be the weak points?

I would go with an 8800 GTS 512MB and P35 chipset my self.

Diddy,

Nice selection and choices. I would listen to the recommendations for video cards. Clock it yourself and save, they are made for that. When you see it done, even just mildly, you won't want SLI or need it unless you're a fanatic!

Alright, Ive been looking, and I think ill go with the 8800 gts & the p35. If I feel the need for a better computer, Ill wait a year or so, and use this one to fold.

One last question, Would it be worth it to buy a 780i motherboard so I can run 8800gts 512mb's in sli?

in my book not ewally because ive heard the p35 is a great overclocker and is more affordable than the 780 boards but i might be wrong. and i think what ppl have said about videocards is good advice so see what you think is best
sli is not everything

No need as a single 8800GTS 512MB will max anything out right now.

You can always upgrade later ;)

Ok, Ill probably be ordering my stuff later today, just double checking before I drop my cash on something that wouldnt be the best I can do.

Looking at it now, the gts supports PCIe 2.0, but the p35 only supports PCIe 16x. Is there a difference?
