Need a very, very basic laptop for college

As the topic suggests, I just need a bottom of the line, basic laptop with the following capabilities:

• Ability to run OpenOffice
• Wi-Fi
• DVD Player

Yeah, that's it. All of my budget will be going towards a desktop PC for the serious computing.

Get the most basic Dell Inspiron 1420. You can probably get it for $600 shipped.

I love the new dell's.

Make sure you check out www.delluniversity.com because you can get a large discount 12% IIRC or good package deals by saying you go to X college/school.

uh does the EEE have a usb port?

if yes then eee + usb DVD drive.

I agree, for classes the EEE is awesome compared to an actual laptop, you can actually see the desk when you set it on it lol.
